Mission:
|
All
district programs are designed for students to receive the best possible
education to prepare them for employment, higher education leading to
employment and life-long learning. As an additional option, the adult basic
education center will afford opportunities for students to complete high
school credits after school hours, meeting all NJ CCCS. Student achievement and success is the
foundation of this program.
Our
evening school option is designed for high school seniors in need of minimal
credits to complete graduation by June of 2013. Classes will be hosted at the
Salem County Vocational School (Prep Center Building) in Woodstown during
afterschool/evening hours.

Cost:
$175.00 per 5 credit course ($35 per credit)

is required upon final enrollment.

Curriculum: Pearson NovaNET
|
NovaNET® Courseware delivers
proven, rigorous core high school curriculum designed to help every student
achieve objective-base mastery and prepare them for graduation and college.
Students
will receive an initial assessment, placing them appropriately into the
course content. With the oversight of a certified instructor, students will
complete online lessons, activities, and assessments. An instructor will be
available during all class time to assist students learning one-on-one or in
a small group setting. Additional activities may be required outside of class
time to ensure all objectives are met. Once all objectives are achieved, high
school credit will be issued by the Salem County Alternative High School,
transferable to area schools.

Entrance and Program Requirements:
|
1.
Students are required to speak with their
high school guidance counselor or representative in order to receive
counseling and a referral to the program.
2.
Once a referral is made, the student,
parent/guardian, resident school representative, and SCVTS principal of adult
education will schedule and complete a conference to determine the student’s
options and prepare a student success
plan.
3.
Students will be required to attend class
on the mutually agreed upon schedule and complete all assignments and
learning activities.
4.
Bi-weekly progress reports will be provided
to the parent/guardian, home school, and SCVTS principal of adult education.
5.
Upon successful completion of the course
materials and class hours, students will receive full credit to be transferred
to the home school.
*Students
who fail to abide by the student
success plan may be removed from the program without refund or credit.
